Low-Battery Anxiety
The challenge
Talk about SuperVOOC fast charging without drowning people in watts and minutes, by putting it back in its context: early 2021, France was barely out of lockdown, people lived on their phones more than ever, and a dead battery had become a real source of stress.
The idea in a nutshell
With OpinionWay, OPPO ran the first post-lockdown study of the French and their smartphones, and it put a name on a brand-new fear: for one in three people, a dead battery had become a modern phobia.
We took its most telling findings and turned them into sketches written and performed by comedian Alex Ramirès, each one with its own very bad idea, and SuperVOOC as the happy ending.
The campaign reached over 13 million people, and the press picked up low-battery anxiety as “the new phobia”.
“Any excuse will do to skip the gym.”
“That’s what we call getting dumped by your battery.”
“If the alarm is on my phone and my phone is dead, how do I wake up to charge it?”
